Vs.

Refilled, Remanufactured, Third party and Reworked toner cartridges

Our experience of over 20 years for what it is worth!

The major manufacturers spend millions of dollars designing equipment that operate and produce the best quality of prints for their prospective clients. During the design process they also design the toner and its components to operate specifically with each designed product.

The toner and its components are a highly guarded secret which is why aftermarket toners and refills can never reproduce the same quality as the original OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) product.

However, as the marketplace is huge and customers are always searching for cheaper options, the moto “close enough is good enough” has produced toner that is close to the original product. (compatible products)

Under this guise a further category has slowly crept into the field of cheap toner. This has opened up another can of worms for the clients. Are refilled toner cartridges the same as or produce the same as quality and quantity of copies the original cartridge or compatible cartridges? The answer is NO,NO and NO.

Kyocera for example, claim that its toner contains minute ceramic components and that is the reason why no aftermarket product operates satisfactorily with their product.

Epson makes their new inkjet cartridges with "smart chips" that send a signal to the printer when they are empty, preventing the printer from recognizing a refilled cartridge as it "remembers" the cartridge as empty. So if you buy a refill, you will have to ensure that the refiller has overridden the Epson code and you are immediately purchasing a sub standard item.

Hewlett Packard or HP, Lexmark, Canon, Konica-Minolta, Fuji-Xerox, Brother etc. all face competition from toner refillers. Statistics clearly state that the refilled product is never as good as the OEM or compatible. Bertyl and similar research companies that perform tests on equipment have clearly found that refilled toner causes many problems.

  • The most expensive problem is fuser damage – poor quality toner causes the fuser assembly in any laser printer, laser fax or copier device to be irreparably damaged. The rollers tend to wear out faster.

  • The most common problem caused through the use of inferior quality refilled or remanufactured toner cartridges is potential toner leakage necessitating an expensive laser printer, laser copier or laser fax repair and clean up.

  • The other problem that we often see is the copy quality deteriorating fast. Refill cartridges generally place more toner on the paper to produce a similar image as a result of drum fatigue and blade wear or non genuine cleaning blades. This causes spillage and splattering on paper.

The result is less volume from refilled containers and blurry lines. If you require sharp lines and no splatter on pages, do yourself and your company a favor and stick to OEM cartridges.

Does your refiller guarantee to pay for the above problems in your machine. Or does he understand that by utilizing these cartridges one may in fact void the warranty on any particular machine. This is not only costly to you but a major inconvenience. Any problems that occur with refilled cartridges become a major inconvenience to you with regard to time and effort.

Environmental issues? Landfill? Safe Toner handling? Excess toner disposal? Do these refillers abide by any of the high standards as set by the major manufacturers?
